All About the Platypus
The platypus is a semi-aquatic mammal native to Eastern Australia and Tasmania. Its scientific name is Ornithorhynchus anatinus. It and four species of echidna are the 5 species of monotremes, the only mammals in the world to lay eggs instead of live young. It has a furry body, webbed duck-like feet, a duck-like bill, and a beaver-like tail.
